The Emperor Collection is Namiki’s highest ranking series. Setsugekka is a traditional Japanese phrase expressing the beauty of nature in different seasons, such as snow in winter, moon in autumn, and flowers in spring. This masterful pen is resplendent in stunning togedashi and raised takamaki-e, in gold, silver, and vivid hues by master artist Michifumi Kawaguchi. One of Namiki’s finest modern L.E. pens. Christophe Larquemin devotes six pages of text and photos to this pen in The Four Seasons of Namiki, writing: “In the autumn of 2010, Michifumi produced a brilliant and very balanced composition that was admired both in the West and in Asia. His original painting superimposed snowflakes and cherry blossom petals, both of which are boldly stylized. Unconventional colors – metallic grey, light beige and dark brown – contrast magnificently with the black lacquer. A highly classical subject is thus given a very modern treatment. A strong realistic effect is finally produced by water drops – produced by the first exposure of snow to the mild breeze of spring – on the surface of the pen. The artist created this decor with tiny round-headed nails embedded into the lacquer in a totally innovative technique”. Very important and low limitation number #02/99. FYI #01 is usually not for sale. So, this is the first one on the market. The pen is fitted with a 18K two-toned gold #50 Medium (M) nib imprinted with Mt. Fuji. Includes original box, packaging, Japanese sword bag, ink bottle, certificates, instruction manual and artisan autographed paper. This pen employs an eyedropper filling system. Mint condition.
